BULLETIN NO 127 Dated 18-10-18

Dear Member,
Welcome to our new style Bulletin. In future we will send very short paragraphs with a link to the full story. It will be designed to suit phones as well as computers.

TELSTRA AGM A DISASTER

John Ellery from the Communications Workers Union (T&S Branch) criticised the board on behalf of staff members for a recent pay offer of 1.5 per cent, saying it was lower than inflation. He described the offer as a "slap in the face to those staff you allegedly so highly value" with employees "disgusted" by the executive pay levels compared to staff wage. Mr Mullen declined to get into a bargaining discussion, but described the recent layoffs as "the least pleasant part of one's job". You could try this link as it will let you hear the recording of the AGM. Go to this link.

TELSTRA AGM - FIRST STRIKE

The AGM featured a corporate tactic known as a first strike. What is a first strike? In short shareholders reject the pay plan for executives at the AGM. This year they did. If they do it again next year then it is inevitable that a number of directors will be sacked and will have to stand for election again. We look forward to this.
