TELSTRA REDUNDANCIES - LATE PAYMENTS

We have complained to Telstra about late payment of redundancy. Our letter stated:

We have several complaints now about lack of payment on termination. These are Telstra initiated terminations for redundancy. One is now 10 days since termination and the money is needed to resolve leased vehicles. Members call the 1800 number. You can ask the 1800 people for their script. It's not their fault. They cannot do not anything but read the script. The is a serious industrial matter and needs urgent attention.
Telstra agreed to follow up asap. If you have a problem, let us know and we will ask Telstra to follow up immediately.

CENTRAL BRANCH - BIGGER BUT NO BETTER

Some members may have received approaches re the NSW Postal Branch wanting to amalgamate with SA and QLD Branches to form an (almost) controlling body. Technical and Telstra workers are very much in the minority. Our Branch does not see the amalgamation as a way forward. Where the Branches have amalgamated, it has not been successful. The Tasmanian Branch collapsed. And the NSW Postal Branch has been described by an inquiry to be "dysfunctional". Even this week there have been several adverse stories in the Financial Review. (Google "Fahour and CEPU"). The Branch and others are being sued by a former Aus Post employee in the Federal Court. The hearing was during the last two weeks.
We are devising our own plans for the future including a closer relationship with the Vic Branch.

TELSTRA INDUSTRIAL ACTION BALLOT

The ballot will now open on 21 January 2019. More details next bulletin. Remember this is not about another 1.5% - its about 12% over 3 years, not 4.5% as offered.

EBA - JOIN A FRIEND

We need to maximize our bargaining power to get a Fair EBA. Make sure that your workmates have been asked to join our Branch. They need to be a member to join the fight. Give them a copy of the weekly Bulletin. Let's add them to our complimentary Bulletin list. Tell them: We need your vote and we need your support to get a better EBA.
