TELSTRA JOBS OPEN TO REDUNDANT STAFF
Telstra is advertising for staff from today. The jobs are generally call centre roles and are open to those who could do the work and/or with ability to be trained. See the Telstra web site. See https://careers.telstra.com/contact-centres. Those currently in transition can apply and extend their employment for 4-6 months. Those who have been made redundant can also apply. The policy preventing re-employment for a certain period will not apply.

OFFSHORE COST CUTTING
Telstra has been hit with a problem as offshore partners are unable to provide services because of COVID19. Other companies who have offshored work to cut costs are also having difficulties. Last week Telstra announced an initiative to recruit some 1,000 contractors to fill the gap. Members are also reporting that in technical areas, staff shortages exist because of this problem. WE may see more vacancies soon.
