CWU T&S WEEKLY BULLETIN NO 2021 / 14
18 Apr 2021

RDO - TELSTRA ADOPTS OUTRAGEOUS ACTION
We have another RDO problem in Canberra. This involves staff working on the Defence contract. Monday 26 April is a public holiday in the ACT (Anzac Day) (Unlike NSW). We have written to Telstra demanding a reversal of these decisions:
+ The team leader told staff whose RDO is on Monday 26 April that it will remain on the public holiday Monday.
+ The team leader moved the RDO of some other staff to the Public Holiday Monday. One staff member had his RDO moved from 19 Apr to 26 Apr. Another had his RDO moved from 30 Apr to 26 Apr.
There are several potential breaches of the EBA here: The team leader is required to consult staff. Staff have a right to have the RDO and the public holiday off.
We sought urgent confirmation from Telstra that:
1. The RDOs planned for 26 April be moved away from the public holiday to 27 April.
2. That no RDO be moved to 26 April.
3. That the team leader be provided with training on the provisions of the FW Act.

MAY DAY MARCH - PARRAMATTA
Join us for the May Day March and Family Fun Day - Saturday, May 01, 2021 at10:30 AM Prince Alfred Square, Church St, Parramatta. There will be rides, food, bands and entertainment.
We will assemble at Prince Alfred Square Parramatta at 10.30am and March to Willow Grove then back to Prince Alfred Square for Family Fun Day.

MIRAIT EBA REPLY
We met with MRA on Friday to hear their response to our claims. It was a mixed bag. We achieved a number of changes but have not resolved the bigger issue of pay rises. Some will get a pay rise this year and in following years. However if you are paid above the EBA rates there is no guarantee of an increase.
See the full summary MRA Bulletin No 3
Please discuss with Daniel Harpley as we will respond this coming Thursday.

DATA LEAK AT TELSTRA TRIPLE ZERO?
Members have raised concerns about a data leak at ESAP. The leak arose from a link associated with a job advertisement. Staff could access personal data of other employees. Telstra gave a cryptic response (see below). We have written back seeking more information. While the Telstra letter insists that the data was not exposed externally, it is unclear what happened internally. We said (in part):
It has been widely reported that staff have seen personal information such as salary band, workers' histories, sick leave and various manager's comments relating to work and performance information. This includes performance reviews, individual objectives, QR reports, scores, job history and education information.
We have repeated our demand that Telstra advise each member in dividually of the situation.

DATA LEAK AT TELSTRA TRIPLE ZERO? - TELSTRA REPLY
Telstra takes the privacy of our employees very seriously. The team has taken the time to look into the concerns raised about a potential privacy breach where personal information was being shared internally and/or externally in relation to a recent ESAP job advertisement.
I can confirm that no personal employee information was made available externally as a result of this job advertisement. Internally, employees are able to view certain information about their colleagues through our internal email system (Outlook) and also Workday.
When an employee clicks on a Telstra contact associated with a job advertisement it links through to Workday. The information visible to employees for these Telstra contacts and all Telstra employees includes their full name, as well as any details they have entered in their work contact information - mobile and office, work address and Telstra email address. There is no access to information such as date of birth, emergency contacts, or any other contact details listed in the `personal' section of Workday, although I note some of this information is available to approved personnel such as 1-up managers.
Coincidentally, what has been identified through this recent recruitment activity relates to the visibility internally of some employee initiated feedback requests via Workday. This appears to have occurred in instances where the person providing the feedback has requested that this be made visible to others. We are continuing to look into this matter as a priority and will be in contact as soon as we have additional information.

WHAT A WEEK FOR AUS POST
On Monday the Chair of the Post Board announced: It is my pleasure to announce that the Board of Australia Post has appointed Paul Graham as our next Group CEO and Managing Director.
On Tuesday former CEO Christine Holgate gave devastating evidence as she told of the way she was treated by the Prime Minister ScoMo (perhaps better described as SlowMo when it comes to the recognition of women to be treated equally).
We do note that Bullying is not only occurring at the top. Many members report actions that may be across that threshold. We are representing 2 members in such a claim.

TECHNICAL JOB VACANCIES
Aus Post is seeking technical staff. See Seek at Seek Post Job
Call us and we can put you in touch with a member there who can give you additional information.
