POST LOGISTICS THIRD PARTY WAREHOUSING/FULFILMENT BUSINESS AWARD 2001

SCHEDULE A - JOB CLASSIFICATIONS AND SALARY RATES

(CLAUSE 13.1)

1.1 Arbitrated safety net adjustments
The rates of pay in this award include the arbitrated safety net adjustment payable under the Safety Net Review - Wages May 2001 decision [Print PR002001]. This arbitrated safety net adjustment may be offset against any equivalent amount in rates of pay received by employees whose wages and conditions of employment are regulated by this award which are above the wage rates prescribed in the award. Such above award payments include wages payable pursuant to certified agreements, currently operating enterprise flexibility agreements, Australian workplace agreements, award variations to give effect to enterprise agreements and over award arrangements. Absorption, which is contrary to the terms of an agreement, is not required.

1.2 Increases made under previous National Wage Case principles or under the current Statement of Principles, excepting those resulting from enterprise agreements, are not to be used to offset arbitrated safety net adjustments.

1.3 Adult employees employed in the following job classifications will be paid no less than the relevant annual salary in the opposite column:

Logistics Operator Level 1

(a) Points of entry: new employee

(b) Skills/duties: an employee engaged at this level:

  • is responsible for his/her own work under a high degree of supervision;
  • works in a team environment and/or under routine supervision;
  • undertakes duties in a safe and responsible manner;
  • is responsible for housekeeping in his/her own work environment;
  • exercises discretion within his/her level of skills and training; and
  • possesses basic interpersonal and communication skills.

    (c) Indicative tasks which an employee at this level may perform are:

  • storing and packing of goods and materials in accordance with appropriate procedures and/or regulations;
  • preparation and receipt of appropriate documentation including liaison with suppliers;
  • allocating and retrieving goods from specific warehouse areas;
  • basic operation of V.D.U. or similar equipment;
  • periodic stock-checks;
  • use of non-licensed material handling equipment.

    (d) Promotional criteria: an employee remains at this level until he or she is capable of effectively performing through assessment or appropriate certification, the tasks required of this function so as to enable him or her to progress to the next level as a position becomes available.

    Logistics Operator Level 2

    (a) Points of entry:

    1. Logistics Operator Level 1

    2. Proven and demonstrated skills (including as appropriate, appropriate certification) to the level required of this grade.

    (b) Skills/duties: an employee engaged at this level:

  • is able to understand detailed instructions and work from procedures;
  • is able to co-ordinate work in a team environment under limited supervision;
  • is responsible for the quality of his/her own work; and
  • possesses sound interpersonal and communication skills.

    (c) Indicative tasks which an employee at this level may perform are the following:

  • licensed operation of all appropriate materials handling equipment;
  • use of tools and equipment within the warehouse and basic non-trades maintenance;
  • V.D.U. operation at a level higher than that of an employee at Logistics Operator Level 1.

    (d) Promotional criteria: an employee remains at this level until he or she is capable of effectively performing through assessment or appropriate certification, the tasks required of this function so as to enable him or her to progress to the next level as a position becomes available.

    Logistics Operator Level 3

    (a) Points of entry

    1. Logistics Operator Level 2

    2. Proven and demonstrated skills (including as appropriate, appropriate certification) to the level required of this grade.

    (b) Skills/duties :an employee engaged at this level :

  • understands and is responsible for quality control standards;
  • possesses an advanced level of interpersonal and communication skills;
  • possesses competent keyboard skills;
  • has a sound working knowledge of all warehousing/stores duties performed at levels below this grade;
  • exercises discretion within the scope of this level; and
  • may perform work requiring minimal supervision either individually or in a team environment.

    (c) Indicative tasks which an employee at this level may perform are the following:

  • use of a V.D.U. for purposes such as the maintenance of a deposit storage system, information input/retrieval, etc. at a level higher than Level 2;
  • operation of all materials handling equipment under licence;
  • development and refinement of a store layout including proper location of goods and their receipt and despatch;
  • responsible for the supervision and the conduct of work of up to ten operators;
  • performance of other administrative work associated with the operation of the warehouse.

    (c) Promotional criteria: an employee remains at this level until he or she is capable of effectively performing through assessment or appropriate certification, the tasks required of this function so as to enable him or her to progress to the next level as a position becomes available.

    Operator Level 4

    (a) Points of entry

    1. Logistics Operator Level 3

    2. Proven and demonstrated skills to the level required of this grade.

    (b) Skills/duties :an employee engaged at this level :

  • has a highly developed level of interpersonal and communication skills;
  • has the ability to supervise and provide direction and guidance to other employees including the ability to assist in the provision of on-the-job training and induction;
  • exercises discretion within the scope of this Level; and
  • exercises skills attained through the successful completion of an appropriate warehousing certificate.

    (c) Indicative tasks which an employee at this level may perform are the following:

  • implementation of quality control techniques and procedures;
  • responsibility for a warehouse or a large section of a warehouse;
  • liaison with management, suppliers and customers with respect to stores operations;
  • responsible for detailing and co-ordinating activities of other store workers and acting in a leading hand capacity for in excess of ten operators;
  • responsible for maintaining control registers including inventory control and for the preparation and reconciliation of regular reports or stock movement, despatches etc.
