Australia Post workers vote YES to new Fair Work Agreement (APFWA)

Australia Post workers have strongly endorsed a new Union collective agreement that maximises full-time work and protects important workplace conditions and entitlements in a time of flux for postal services worldwide.

The results of the APFWA ballot, administered by the Australian Electoral Commission have now been formally declared. The results of the APFWA ballot are:

Application for approval of the Australia Post Fair Work Agreement 2010.

[1] An application has been made for approval of an enterprise agreement known as the Australia Post Fair Work Agreement 2010 (Agreement). The application was made pursuant to s.185 of the Fair Work Act 2009 (Act). It has been made by Australian Postal Corporation. The agreement is a single-enterprise agreement.

[2] I am satisfied that each of the requirements of ss.186, 187 and 188 of the Act as are relevant to this application for approval have been met.

[3] The Communications, Electrical, Electronic, Energy, Information, Postal, Plumbing and Allied Services Union of Australia (CEPU), the CPSU, Community and Public Sector Union (CPSU) and the Transport Workers' Union of Australia (TWU) being bargaining representatives for the Agreement, have given notice under s.183 of the Act that they want the Agreement to cover them. In accordance with s.201(2), I note that the Agreement covers these organisations.

[4] The Agreement is approved and, in accordance with s.54, will operate from 28 October 2010. The nominal expiry date of the Agreement is 31 July 2013.
