SALE OF AUSTRALIA POST NOT ON?

Labour has said that it would not sell Post nor remove the universal service obligations.

The new Minister for Communications, Malcolm Turnbull, assured us during the election campaign that the Coalition would not sell Post nor remove the universal service obligations. See extracts from his letter on right.

Nitwithstanding the promises, the media stories suggest that Post will be considered for sale. Another aspect is the creation of Blue and Red Post - is this a prepartion for a partial sale? Australia Post is an Australian icon. Its manegement must treat it as such - and so must our politicians.

CWU will oppose all efforts to sell Post in part or as a whole.

Dan Dwyer, Divisional Secretary.

The first 20 "Blue" Post trucks arrived 7 October 2013
