Our Telstra Enterprise Bargaining Agreement expires in June 2005. Only by working together can we win improvements in a very difficult environment.

Get campaign ready

There are some simple things we can do to win a better deal. It's about being campaign ready.

1. Discuss the issues that matter to you at work with fellow members. Include non-members. Encourage their participation and involvement.

2. Talk amongst your workmates to find out who your local CEPU representative or contact point is. If you don't have one, decide amongst yourselves who is prepared to represent your area.

3. Contact your CEPU Branch and advise them of your representative/contact point details. Ask for EBA material and membership forms to be sent to your workplace.

4. Hand out material at work and encourage your workmates to discuss the issues and pass any comments back to your representative/contact point.

Encouraging non-members to join the Union is most important. The enterprise bargaining equation is very simple. The more members we have, the greater our bargaining strength across the country, the more improvements we win on wages and conditions.

What is enterprise bargaining? Enterprise bargaining between the employer and workers is a negotiating process which only happens every 3 years or so, and decides our wages, conditions and job security. Federal laws set out when we can take industrial action, and the role of the Industrial Relations Commission. All members get to vote on any new agreement before it can be accepted.
