TELSTRA/CWU EBA 2012

Telstra EBA Home

EBA Package to go to vote - CWU recommends acceptance More

The current Telstra EBA ends on 24 Sept 2012. The replacement EBA should begin on 24 Sept 2012. The first step towards a new EBA is the formal issue of a bargaining notice by Telstra. This was done on 27 March 12.

CWU is automatically your default bargaining agent. We are already in the process of formulating your log of claims. The survey results are being analysed

The first negotiations began on 4 April 2012.

Message from Dan Dwyer, CWU National Secretary

We have commenced the process to negotiate a new EBA. Our goals includes the certification of an EBA commencing on 24 Sept 2012 accompanied by an immediate pay rise.

The outcome will depend on many factors, the most important being you. This is collective bargaining and your involvement improves our bargaining power. Telstra want a "simple fair agreement" (SFA). We focus on key content such as job security, pay rate equity, lifestyle (eg 9 day fortnight) and recognition for the valuable skills that employees bring to Telstra.

The EBA is a major event for our Union. We will spend in the order of one million dollars negotiating the EBA. It will benefit directly every EBA and ECA employee of Telstra. Even employees on AWAs and contracts benefit as our results set the pace.

We cannot do this without bargaining power. This comes from a strong and active membership. Our last resort is industrial action. Our first resort is bargaining.

The first step you can take to ensure that we achieve a proper outcome is to ask your fellow workers, if they are not members, to join you and me as a CWU member to put us in the best position to bargain.

Lets bargain from a position of strength. United we win, divided we beg!

Agreement Recommended by Telecom Committee

On 10 September 2012, the Divisional Executive considered the package negotiated by our Committee and passed a motion to recommend tto members acceptance of the proposed agreement.

As always, we did not achieve every last demand. However this Agreements is a step forward, protecting existing conditions and reduces the complex structural problems. The pay increases, with nearly 6% upfront for most members, is significant. We now await your consideration of the proposed agreement and your vote.

Dan Dwyer
