On 8 May 2019, Telstra advised of a new job description for CFW 6. Their letter stated

Ref 201907 - Creation of a new core job description - CFW6 Installer & Repairer

I am writing as a courtesy to inform you that Telstra has created a new core job description (core JD).
As you would be aware, Telstra currently does not have a field based CFW6 core JD. The only core JD at this level is the CFW6 (Work Design - Support), which is predominantly office based design work.
Telstra recognised the requirement for a new CFW6 (Installer & Repairer) core job description to bridge the gap between the current CFW5 (Installer & Repairer) and CFW7 (Installer & Repairer) roles. The business is confident in the differences in accountabilities, competencies and technologies between the CFW5, CFW6 and CFW7 core jobs.
To be clear, this is not a variation to the current core JDs. This is a newly created core JD, at the CFW6 level.
The creation of this new core JD will not result in an impact to current employees at the CFW5 or CFW7 banding. Rather, this will allow the business to recruit field based roles at the CFW6 level.

  Under the Telstra EA 2015-18, there is no requirement to agree to the creation of new core JDs, however, Telstra is open to discussing any questions or concerns you may have.
