CWU T&S WEEKLY BULLETIN NO 2019 / 44
17 NOV 2019

TELSTRA EBA - VOTE NO AGAIN
Telstra is busily preparing for another ballot. The EBA allows forced redeployment to a subsidiary (else no redundancy) and for a direction to take LSL. The pay increase is 1.8% this year (0.3% more or less than a cup of coffee each week). And 2.0% next year. This is not securing our future! We recommend a NO vote. You need to talk to your colleagues as the most of Telstra votes on this EBA.

SPF REPLY TO OUR EMAIL
Last week we set out our concerns re the proposed changes at SPF. The Post reply gives us no satisfaction:

Thank you for your email where you outlined some of the feedback from your members regarding the proposed roster changes at SPF where we are aiming to align the operations of our Technicians with our Processing operations.
As we have agreed, these matters will be subject to further discussion at the LWG and Steering Committee as well as any necessary escalation to the State Consultative Forum.
Following the staff briefings on these proposed changes which also included that SWLF will take over the maintenance of the SGF machines, I can advise that all SPF Technicians that had previously expressed an interest in transferring to SWLF have now told us they would like to remain at SPF which indicates that they want to remain at SPF to maintain the machinery at this Facility.
In respect of your feedback regarding transferring of work to SGF, as previously advised the realignment of the SGF work to SWLF is outside the scope of this LWG, whilst we note your comments below the rationale for this proposal is to enable us to better align our expertise with maintaining the Beumer machinery across the Sydney Basis. I look forward to discussing the SPF shift realignment further with you in our scheduled Forums.

SPF DEVELOPMENTS
To date no decisions have been made. Our Branch has indicated that there is a strong call from some for rotating shifts and almost complete support for shifts to remain at 8h 10m and for SGF to remain with SPF. The LWG is seeking feedback. We will press to allow the LWG to propose options with SGF in the mix. We will seek your feedback this week.
