Further to the conference conducted by the Fair Work Commission (Commission) today, the Commission directs that:

The Amended Policy must accurately reflect the legal position relating to when Optus can/cannot require employees to take annual leave.
    2. The matter be relisted for further conference at 10 AM on Friday, 26 November 2021.

POST TECHNICAL & ENGINEERING REVIEW KICKS-OFF

The first meeting took place last Friday with discussion of the terms of reference and a need for circulation of base documents. The review was precipitated following a dispute in the FWC initiated by our T&S Branch in Victoria. We will be developing proposals through our T&S weekly forum of Post Technical members.

POST WEEKLY FORUM

The forum has been running for nearly a year hosted by John Ellery. It has representatives from SWLF, SPF, Canberra and Victorian sites. We will ensure that the terms of reference address the needs of members and consult through the forum and via bulletins. If you wish to participate, please contact our local representatives or myself.

TELSTRA SUBSIDIARIES

Telstra issued an update this week which made a number of points. We continue to monitor these developments and will be particularly interested in the new employment contracts. The most significant Telstra statements were:

  • Under the restructure we're establishing a new holding company for the Telstra Group, and creating some new employer companies under it.
  • There is no impact on our organisational structure, functions or reporting lines, as our existing organisational structure will be transferred to our new legal structure.
  • While no-one's job is changing, it does mean that most of us will end up being employed by a different legal entity than we are today. As we'll have a new employer, most of us will have to sign a new employment contract.
  • Most of us will be employed by a new company within the Telstra Group
  • Under the legal restructure most of us will be employed by `Telstra Limited' (previously referred to as `ServeCo').
  • InfraCo people will stay in Telstra Corporation Limited, which will be rebadged as Telstra Infraco Limited.
  • Those in InfraCo Towers will move to Amplitel in December - they're already moving through the transition process.
  • People on Telstra Health or Purple contracts will stay where they are. But some people in those business are employed directly by Telstra Corporation and will move to Telstra Limited.
  • If you are employed by an offshore entity (such as Telstra International Philippines) you will stay where you are.
  • You'll keep the entitlements you have now. Nothing changes here.
  • We want everyone to feel comfortable and ready to click accept by the time your contract hits your inbox, which we expect to occur in early February 2022.
  • Next Tuesday 23 November 2021: You'll get an email from ! Telstra Group Restructure telling you if your role is moving and asking you to check your personal data preview page. This is important to make sure everything is up-to-date and accurate, so that when you get your contract, it's right the first time.
  • 2 February - 18 February 2022: review and accept your contract. This is critical because your current role with Telstra Corporation will end on 16 March 2022.

TELSTRA SEC DISPUTE

We held the 2 x Step 2 meetings - and the short summary of the outcome is that we agreed to disagree. We will now move to step 3 in the dispute process.

POST XMAS PRESENT?

Post has traditionally contributed $10 to each employee towards holding local workplace Christmas gatherings. It was increased to $15. Post has increased it this year, to $20.
