TECHNICAL AND SERVICES BRANCH WEEKLY BULLETIN 2022

Number 29       7 August 2022

MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT - GLENN FALLS

Our Committee of Management is proceeding with the steps to amalgamate our Branch with the Vic Branch. We are now awaiting approval of the rule changes by the Fair work Commission. Our Branch officials will continue to work from New South Wales.
At the same time we have been reviewing our membership fees. These have been frozen for over 3 years and we need to increase them. We decided to increase fees by about 5% or about one dollar per month. The details will be in our weekly Bulletin.
Our Branch is unique in that we have a Branch Secretary who is also an industrial lawyer. You can call him directly should you have any issues or questions.
We are able to provide professional assistance to members. While you see summaries of our work in the weekly Bulletins, there are a large number of issues where we represent members as individuals. These include dismissals, bullying, classifications, redundancies, underpayments, Covid and many others. In these matters. settlements are confidential and cannot be reported. But we are there keeping your back.
Remember you are never alone when you are a member of our Branch. Glenn Falls President.

NOTICE OF FEE INCREASE

We advise that the Branch Committee of Management has determined to increase our membership fees. See below.
The increases are about $1.00 per fortnight and are about 5%. We have not increased our fees for some years now and the time has come to act. Further, we are moving closer to align our fees with the Vic Branch (with whom we expect to amalgamate later this year). The new fees will commence from 1 September 2022.

NEW MEMBERSHIP FEES

Fees are determined by your salary: For example, if your base salary is between 70,000 and 85,000 then your annual fee is $665.

	Annual	Salary Range Applicable
 A $ 665.00 $ 85,000 and above
 B $ 605.00 $ 70,000 $ 85,000
 C $ 480.00 $ 50,000 $ 70,000
 D $ 240.00 less than $ 50,000

TELSTRA SEC DISPUTE - FWC DECISION

We still await the decision.

POST HUNTER REDUNDANCIES

Post has confirmed that they intend to reduce the technical staff from 6 to 3, and reduce roster coverage. They propose a staff of 3 x PTO4 reporting to SWLF (somehow). The shift changes result in significant income cuts. We have advised Post that a dispute exists and that we will proceed via the dispute procedure in the EBA.

TELSTRA GAT DISPUTE

The rosters and arrangements proposed by Telstra for the GAT team are disputed. We have advised the one up manager that we seek a step 1 meeting as we move through the dispute resolution in the EBA.

TPG EBA

TPG advised that they are finalising the drafting of the Agreement and will provide it to staff formally in mid August. The Committee members are seeking further discussions as a number of issues were not resolved. No date has been set for a further meeting.
