1.1.1 PURPOSE AND STRUCTURE
The Human Resources (HR) Manual is a consolidated reference on employment
conditions and entitlements for employees of Australia Post.
The manual documents Australia Post's employment conditions and
entitlements. It provides an authoritative and consistent source of information for
everyday personnel enquires and issues.
The contents of the HR Manual include agreements, the Australia Post Principal
Determination, current rates of pay and employment conditions. The large
section on employment conditions supplements and expands on other reference
material such as:
- Agreements
- Australia Post Determinations
- Long Service Leave (Commonwealth Employees) Act 1976
- Maternity Leave (Commonwealth Employees) Act 1973
- Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988
- Racial Discrimination Act
- Sex Discrimination Act
- Equal Employment Opportunity (Commonwealth Authorities) Act
- Human Rights and Equal Opportunities Act
1.1.2 H.R. MANUAL NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT
The HR Manual is not a legally based document, nor is it presented in legal
phraseology. It is intended to provide a uniform and consistent interpretation and
guide on administering employment conditions and entitlements.
KEEPING THE MANUAL UP TO DATE

The rates and conditions outlined in the HR manual are subject to change as a result of any of the following:
- Legislative change
- Agreements
- Australia Post Determinations
- Australia Post decisions.

Changes to the manual are managed by Workplace Relations and Policy and communicated on the HR Manual home page on Pogo (link). The HR Manual, is automatically amended as changes occur and hence it is always up to date. Users with access to Pogo may read or print any part of the manual as required. Employees who do not have access to the HR Manual on Pogo can request copies of sections through their manager or supervisor.

Hard Copies of the HR Manual are no longer in use and any copies located in facilities or work area's should be securely destroyed.
