AUSTRALIA POST ENTERPRISE AGREEMENT 2013

Application for approval of the Australia Post Enterprise Agreement 2013.
[1] An application has been made for approval of an enterprise agreement known as the
Australia Post Enterprise Agreement 2013 (the Agreement). The application was made
pursuant to s.185 of the Fair Work Act 2009 (the Act). It has been made by Australian Postal
Corporation ('Australia Post'). The agreement is a single-enterprise agreement.
[2] I am satisfied that each of the requirements of ss.186, 187 and 188 as are relevant to
this application for approval have been met.
[3] The Community and Public Sector Union (CPSU), Association of Professional
Engineers, Scientists and Managers Australia (APESMA), Transport Workers Union (TWU),
Communications, Electrical and Plumbing Union (CEPU) and Automotive, Food, Metals,
Engineering, Printing and Kindred Industries Union (AMWU), being bargaining
representatives for the Agreement, have given notice under s.183 of the Act that they want the
Agreement to cover them. In accordance with s.201(2), I note that the Agreement covers the
organisations.
[4] The Agreement is approved and, in accordance with s.54 of the Act, will operate from
29 July 2013. The nominal expiry date of the Agreement is 31 December 2016.
EBA8 BALLOT RESULTS
The EBA was supported by Tas and NSW P&T Branches. Qld and SA/NT were split. The WA and Vic Branch opposed the EBA.
The NSW and Vic T&S Branches were neutral. The Divisional Office did not support the EBA. The Divisional Executive did not support or oppose the EBA.
A motion by the Divisional Executive to put out a balanced FOR/AGAINST statement was blocked by some YES supporters.
The ballot closed on 3 July 2013. Notwithstanding the various views the staff of Australia Post voted for the EBA.
