AT813059 - TELSTRA (REMOTE LOCALITY) AWARD 2002
1. Scope
1.1 This award shall apply to any person:

This award shall commence on 15 January 2002 and remain in force for a period of six months. Subject to the terms of this award, any allowance, entitlement or benefit received by an Employee immediately prior to the operative date of this award by virtue of them working in a Locality shall continue to apply. 5.1 An Employee is entitled to a District Allowance determined and paid in accordance with this award. 5.2 For the avoidance of doubt, a District Allowance is not payable to an Employee whose work base is in, or who performs work predominantly in, Darwin, Townsville or Cairns. 6. COMPONENTS OF THE DISTRICT ALLOWANCE The District Allowance shall comprise of:
6.1 for an Employee with dependents, an annual payment calculated on the following basis:
The annual payment for Grade 1 shall be adjusted by Telstra on 1 July of each year in accordance with the Consumer Price Index
6.2 for an employee without dependants, an annual payment calculated on the following basis:

Each employee shall continue to be paid or provided the same value airfares and subsidies which were paid or provided by Telstra immediately prior to the operative date of this award, except that the airfares and subsidies will be paid as an annual payment. 7. VARIATIONS TO LOCALITY OR GRADE 7.1 Telstra may, reclassify or declassify a locality subject to clauses 7.2 and 7.3 of this award. Immediately upon and following declassification of a Locality, an Employee who works in the Locality shall not be entitled to a District Allowance or any allowance, entitlement or benefit received by an Employee immediately prior to the declassification by virtue of them working in a Locality. 7.2 Telstra shall advise the other respondents to this award prior to reclassifying or declassifying a Locality. The notification shall, consistent with clause 7.4 specify the basis for the proposed reclassification or declassification, and be accompanied by documents that support the proposed reclassification or declassification. 7.3 A union respondent shall advise the other respondents of this award of any demand for reclassification or declassification of a Locality. 7.4.1 the isolation of the Locality, including but not limited to:
7.4.2 the climate of the Locality, as determined by the Bureau of Metrology; 7.4.3 the cost of living of the Locality when compared to the average cost of living in Australia; 7.4.5 the population size of the Locality.
