SUBJECT: Statement of Principle Regarding Ballot

Dear Burt,

Thank you for your letter regarding the above.

I note the CEPU's formal position regarding the proposed Telstra Enterprise Agreement 2010-2012.

As you appreciate, Telstra would prefer that all bargaining parties adapt a unified approach to the ballot in the interests of ensuring a successful outcome. However, Telstra will undertake the ballot process in reliance on the CEPU's statement of principle (and statements of support by other unions).

I note the CEPU's comments regarding pay rates. I confirm that, subject to a positive outcome, in the ballot, Telstra commits to further discussions on the differential between EA and ECA pay rates with the CEPU.
