CWU T&S WEEKLY BULLETIN NO 2021 / 51
12 December 2021

TELSTRA SEC DISPUTE

We have completed the EBA step 3 of the dispute resolution process. We have filed a request in the FWC for conciliation of the dispute.

TELSTRA EBA

No progress to report since John Ellery's report last week See Bulletin 50

MIRAIT EBA

We cannot agree to a 1% EBA. We did suggest that they add a clause that there be consultation when the annual wage review occurs. WE still disagree on the pay rise.

OPTUS EBA

We have commenced negotiations on the Optus EBA. Optus is proposing several improvements in leave but only CPI for wage increases. However, as expected, Optus is seeking to include clauses so that they can lawfully direct you to take annual leave. See below. Optus also wished to restrict payment of your wages into only one bank account. The new EBA is not due till April next year. Negotiations are continuing.

OPTUS EBA FORCED LEAVE - YOUR VIEW?

We have indicated that this is a problem with the proposal to allow Optus to direct staff to take annual leave. Their initial proposal is below. We want to know your view on this. Please respond by email or phone.

In certain circumstances, Optus may require an employee to take annual leave, including:
  • during Christmas/New Year or other business or work area shut down; and
  • if an employee has accrued more than 30 days of annual leave (35 days for 7 day shift workers as defined at 6.9(f)) to take annual leave within a reasonable timeframe. Any requirement by Optus must not result in the employee having less than 20 days (25 days for 7 day shift workers as defined at 6.9(f)) annual leave balance.

TPG EBA TALKS

We have had discussions with TPG (Vodafone, IINet etc) about a new EBA. TPG will commence negotiations in January next year. This will create one EBA for TPG to replace the current three EBAs.

AUS POST TECHNICAL REVIEW

We have had two meetings to kick off the Review of the Technical staff. The review will cover structures, job descriptions and qualifications eg for PTO4 progression.
