Number 24       9 July 2023

SPF LUNCH ROOM

This week we sought to clarify the lunch room arrangements at SPF. Here is our exchange with the Facility Manager:

CWU: Can we please have the Tech Lunch room reinstated as the Covid era has passed and (R) has left Post. The current arrangements were temporary.
Post REPLY: I understand the Technicians have the large area outside the Tech Hub and the common area downstairs near the Worth St entry. They also have access to the Tech Hub to relax as necessary in a quiet environment. I anticipate the Engineering Office will be utilised as it has been for Tech Leaders.
We seek further comments from members.

POST SPF PTO7

We wrote to the state manager to clarify confusion over the filling of PTO7 positions. Our letter stated (in part)

We wish to clarify to the way the PTO7 positions have been advertised. Further local discussion has added to the confusion. A clear clarification is necessary.
As a result of this, the current team leaders believed that they did not have to apply for their positions. We assume this is correct but I worry about the way SPF operates.
First the job was advertised with only 2 days to apply. It was attached and sent by email by Mr (G) on 27 June. The attached Job Advertisement stated that applications closed on 28 June.
Secondly only one job was advertised. The Job Advertisement stated: Aus Post Position Number: 00839328
Thirdly, local discussion developed the view that only (M's) job was advertised as he has only been acting for a short time.
Fourthly, local discussions developed a view that the long standing appointed Team Leaders did not have to apply for their jobs as they would be automatically considered. (Assessment of Team Leaders has not taken place as discussed in the technical review.)
Fifthly, the need for a full electrical licence is ambiguous. It should state that consistent with the EBA etc, a full electrician's licence is needed for team leaders. We seek confirmation of this.
